This is with reference to Exchange Notice No. 20260612-29 dated June 12, 2026, regarding Ease of Doing Investments – Modified Norms for Nomination in Demat Accounts and Mutual Fund Folios.
Members are hereby informed that SEBI has issued Circular No. SEBI/HO/OIAE/OIAE_IAD-3/P/CIR/2026/12676 dated May 29, 2026, prescribing revised norms for nomination in Demat Accounts and Mutual Fund Folios. These revised norms shall be applicable with effect from September 1, 2026.
In continuation of the aforesaid SEBI circular, Members are advised to take note of the revised nomination framework and ensure necessary changes in their respective systems and operational processes, wherever applicable.
Revised Nomination Framework:
Accordingly, based on the communication received from the Registrar & Transfer Agents (RTAs), nominee-related aforesaid fields shall be made optional, wherever applicable, under the UCC Creation and Nomination Modification structures on the BSE StAR MF platform.

Members are hereby informed that, for transactions in non-demat mode where units are required to be created/allotted under a new folio at the AMC/RTA end, any nominee-related additional details provided at the UCC level such as the nominee’s address, mobile number, email ID, percentage share, guardian details (in case of a minor nominee), identity number, and any other prescribed information will be reported to the respective RTAs for incorporation in the folio records.
Accordingly, Members must ensure that all nominee-related details are accurately updated, complete, and duly verified prior to order placement. Any incorrect, incomplete, inconsistent, or missing nominee information may result in the transaction being rejected by the respective RTA.
Members using third-party vendor solutions and/or in-house developed trading applications are requested to take note of the above changes and initiate the necessary development and system modifications at their end well before the implementation date.
