Subject: Duties and Responsibilities of Nursing Cadre Officials in ESIC Hospitals/ Medical Institutions – reg.
Attention is invited to the importance of prioritizing patient care in all clinical and related activities by all Nursing Cadre Officials of ESI Institutions who play a vital role in ensuring safe, timely, and compassionate care to ESI beneficiaries which remains the highest priority of ESI Corporation.
All Nursing Cadre Officials are hereby advised to:
- Give foremost priority to direct patient care and clinical duties at all times;
- Ensure timely response to patient needs, calls, and clinical requirements;
- Minimize delays in routine care, medication administration, and documentation;
- Maintain continuous monitoring of patient conditions;
- Coordinate effectively with doctors and other healthcare team members for optimal patient outcomes;
- Avoid unnecessary delays caused by administrative or non-clinical tasks during duty hours;
- Discharge duties relating to patient care as assigned by the Controlling Authority/Superior Officers to manage better medical care in institutions.
It is expected that all nursing personnel shall demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and accountability while delivering patient care. Patient safety and well-being must remain priority to all actions and decisions.
Direct nursing care of patients, particularly in critical emergency, pre-operative and other specialised clinical areas are an integral part of the duties of the nursing personnel. Needless to mention that non-compliance or refusal to provide patient care by any Nursing Cadre Official will be viewed seriously and shall attract strict disciplinary action under extant rules.
