Sir/Madam Kindly refer to letter no. V-28/12/14/2012-Med.I/HQ dated 26.08.2015. Medical science is constantly evolving, and it is important for doctors to stay updated with new developments to provide better patient care. To ensure this, Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, including Conferences, Seminars, and Workshops, help medical professionals enhance their knowledge and skills. ESIC has reviewed its policy on the participation of its medical professionals, including Insurance Medical Officers (IMOs), Specialists, Super-Specialists, and Teaching Faculty, in CME programs. Based on this review, revised guidelines have been prepared to regulate participation while ensuring the smooth functioning of ESIC healthcare institutions. All medical professionals working in ESIC dispensaries, hospitals, medical colleges, and PG institutions must follow these revised guidelines. The revised guidelines for conferences to be attended by doctors are : Doctors are entitled to two CME programmes in a block of two financial years. Only one conference per financial year is permitted. For one year with TA/DA and the following year without TA/DA. The requests submitted by doctors for attending various CMEs are required to be forwarded by the Controlling Authority to the Sanctioning Authority along with appropriate recommendations. Requests from doctors other than Teaching Faculty should be forwarded to the Medical-1 Branch, ESIC Headquarters, whereas requests from Teaching Faculty should be forwarded to the Medical Education Branch, ESIC Headquarters. Designated faculty members are required to submit their application to Medical-1 Branch. V-28/12/Basaidarapur I/2799598/2025 The Controlling Authority should ensure that the proforma is completely filled as per guidelines. Complete details such as copies of invitation/brochure of the meeting/workshop/conference etc. should be attached with the prescribed proforma. The Administration is inclined to approve the Early Bird registration fees applicable for the CME programmes/ conferences. Accordingly, all applications for participation should be submitted well in advance. It is reiterated that applications must reach the Sanctioning Authority not later than 30 days prior to the commencement of the conference. This is essential to ensure timely completion of necessary documentation and approvals as per the rules. All concerned are requested to strictly adhere to this timeline to avoid any processing delays. Special Casual Leave for 5 days (inclusive of travel days) may be granted to GDMOs and Specialists. For Teaching Faculty, 5 days will be deducted from the Special Leave for Academic Purposes. Leave will be sanctioned by the Controlling Authority based on approval of the conference from Headquarters. Upon returning from the conference, a summary report of the CME is to be submitted along with certificate of attendance. The certificate must be forwarded by the Controlling Authority to the sanctioning authority. No post facto approvals will be granted for conferences attended without prior sanction. The age of the applicant must not exceed 64 years on the date of start of the conference. Applications with incomplete information or deviations from the prescribed proforma will not be accepted or entertained. The revised proforma is enclosed.
