Subject: Decision taken in the 48th Food Authority Meeting regarding the ‘Policy on the timeline for compliance with FSS Regulations.’
In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 92 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) makes or amends the Food Safety and Standards Regulations with the approval of the Central Government.
i. Amendments relating to the FSS (Labelling and Display) Regulations, as well as any changes in labelling requirements specified in other Food Safety and Standards Regulations, shall come into force on 1st July, subject to a minimum transition period of 365 days from the date of notification.
ii. In emergency situations, the matter of implementation or enforcement may be decided on a case-by-case basis.
